“...que par un être dont le coeur bat…” (2023)
Program notes
'... que par un être dont le coeur bat...' focuses on the evolution of materials over time and space, not from a process perspective, but rather from a dialectical perspective: how one can influence the other, vertically as well as horizontally and transversally.
Based on a dynamic and articulated rhetoric, this piece proposes a rhythmic scenario that exploits the contrasts between simple and eloquent materials, all of which carry ideas that are both fragile and powerful. At times complementary and at others contradictory, the materials are used to articulate a virtuoso sound discourse in which the proposals intersect and clash for the benefit of a feverish and intriguing narrative. My interest in the concertante spirit lies in the tension that exists between writing that values all the instruments and solo writing.
With this piece, I am also continuing my exploration of phenomena linked to the perception and legibility of the formal organisation articulating the musical material in a language that I would like to be as direct and communicative as possible, but above all in which the freedom of the writing remains at the service of the imaginary and its materialisation.
