Quasar - Ondes Passerelles
Ondes Passerelles offers a program of intercultural dialogues that brings contemporary Western musical traditions into conversation with diverse musical practices from around the world.
This artistic encounter fosters collaboration between composers and performers from these different backgrounds, in a spirit of exchange and shared creation. A new work by Métis composer Jesse Plessis, for saxophone quartet, voice, and piano, will receive its world premiere as part of the concert. The sung text is drawn from Au vent de la piroguière – Tifaifai by Flora Aurima Devantine, in which “the journey of life merges with that of language, oscillating between orality and writing.”
The program will also include a work for quartet and santour by composer Jimmie Le Blanc. Guest artists for this presentation will include soprano Brittany Rae, musician Amir Amiri on santour, and Jesse Plessis on piano.
