Emmanuel Lacopo & Il Buio
Il Buio is a Montréal-based large ensemble exploring the boundaries of 21st-century classical music through collaboration, experimentation, and cross-genre practice.
Founded by guitarist and composer Emmanuel Jacob Lacopo, the ensemble combines strings, guitars, percussion, piano, and electronics to create immersive works that blend chamber music, post-rock, ambient music, and contemporary classical practices. Inspired by Montréal’s experimental music legacy and artists such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Il Buio creates adventurous and approachable concert experiences that expand how audiences engage with contemporary chamber music.
