ROUND TABLE: Crossed perspectives on creation

with Keiko Devaux (composer, Montreal), Jonah Leslie (multidisciplinary artist, Montreal) and Melmun Bajarchuu (critical companion, Berlin), moderation by Véronique Girard

An exchange around the creative processes of the three guests through their respective disciplines. 
During the discussion, the sources of inspiration and the issues that affect creation at the level of sound, image and body will be addressed. In parallel, the exchange will also focus on the creative intention that navigates the individual space, whether through memories, well-being or convictions, and in what ways these perspectives can enter into dialogue in the external space.

The Orchestre de l'Agora will open its doors to a limited audience to give a preview of its upcoming Big Bang - Sommet de la création concert, which will highlight the works of four incomparable up-and-coming Quebec creators. These works are exclusive creations, which will be performed as world premieres during the concerts on September 30 and October 1.

PROFESSIONALIZATION WORKSHOP: Building the future: propelling your career in contemporary creation

with Sophie Dupuis (composer), Émilie Fortin (trumpet player) and Jasmine Catudal (set designer, general and artistic director), moderation by Véronique Girard

A discussion between guest artists and emerging artists on the development of a career path adapted to their objectives.The discussion will address the different avenues of professionalization for artists at the beginning of their career as well as the importance of setting up unique and adapted projects while affirming the desired direction of the artistic milieu.

YOUTH WORKSHOP (3 to 6 years - with parent) : Pastel candy drawers - a creative workshop for musical eyes!

with Symon Henry, Véronique Girard and Noémie Caron-Marcotte in collaboration with the Orchestre de l'Agora

Come and explore the creation of graphic scores in this workshop where images, colours, sweets and accessories of all kinds are transformed into music for the ears... Inspired by Symon Henry's work for electroacoustic and orchestra Tiroirs bonbons pastels, this workshop invites you to dive into a colourful and sweet universe where the only limit to sound is your imagination!

YOUTH WORKSHOP (7 to 12 years old): Candy pastel drawers - visual musical interpretation workshop

with Symon Henry, Véronique Girard and Noémie Caron-Marcotte in the presence of guest artists from the Orchestre de l'Agora: Victor Alibert and David Therrien-Brongo in collaboration with the Orchestre de l'Agora

→ On site and on subscription: Bibliothèque du Vieux-Saint-Laurent

Come and explore the interpretation of graphic scores in this workshop inspired by Symon Henry's work for electroacoustic and orchestra Tiroirs bonbons pastels. You will be invited to join real orchestral musicians to experience the creation of a visual musical work from the point of view of performance. Through this workshop, you will learn to develop playing techniques and have the opportunity to play an excerpt of the work in a group performance.

No previous musical experience is required to participate in this workshop. Whether you are a musician or not, you are welcome!

PRECONCERT: The origin of Big Bang: meeting the composers

with Alexandre David, Francis Battah, Laurence Jobidon, moderation by Nicolas Ellis

→ On site (ticket holders only) : Espace orange - Édifice Wilder

A pre-concert discussion that will shed light on the process of creating a work for orchestra and allow for an exchange with composers Alexandre David, Francis Battah and Laurence Jobidon about the compositional intention that led to the creation of their piece for the Orchestre de l'Agora. Nicolas Ellis (conductor) will lead the discussion, which will address the challenges and benefits of collaborating with artists who write specifically for an ensemble. He will also discuss the rehearsal process, exchanges with the performers and the development of a concert programme that highlights contemporary creation.
