Tagtraum (2018)
Notes de programme
Commissioned by Arraymusic, Tagtraum deconstructs an echo: the first section centres on near unisons, the second introduces counterpoint that develops into the third section of looping structures, and the fourth extends the idea of an echo into a more expansive, orchestrated space. This piece attempts to move between song and sound, allowing sonic textures to coexist with fragmented language and expression. The text is drawn from excerpts of Duino Elegies (1923) by Rainer Maria Rilke; musings on the strangeness of meanings that once held together, now drifting apart, the feeling of a happiness that falls, and when emotion grows faint.
