The title of this piece could have been "Midlife Crisis Indulgence" (“IN E”). I have always been fascinated by the guitar, but for some reason never had the guts to learn to play it. I started to do this a few years ago but my skills are still very basic. When Sam Wilson asked me to write a piece for her, I was bold enough to use my noodling as a starting point for my writing. Because it stems from my own performing limitations, the piece is in the guitar-for-dummies key of E minor. Hence the finally chosen title…
