Journées de la culture - Orchestre d'un après-midi

Whether you're a musician for a day or a lifetime, a singer in the shower or an experienced soloist, if the treble and bass clefs have no secrets for you or if you don't know how to read a note, bring your instrument or an object that doesn't seem to make a sound (saucepans, metal bowls or teaspoons accepted!), or your voice and take part in this UNBELIEVABLE collective musical activity!

In one afternoon, the neighborhood comes together to COLLECTIVELY create its own music! Come and take part in this free workshop offered by Le Vivier. It's open to big kids and little ones aged 8 and over.

WHERE AND WHAT TIME?

  • WORKSHOP : Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 1pm to 6pm
  • LITTLE CONCERT: Meet at 5pm on the same day at Sts. Cuthbert, Hilda & Luke Church - 6341 Av. De Lorimier, Montréal, QC H2G 2P5

RECORD, INVENT AND PLAY!

You'll be guided through this workshop by the composer Alithéa Ripoll. Together, we'll stroll through the neighborhood to make recordings of our beautiful urban nature! Back at the church, we'll enjoy making A JOINT MUSICAL COMPOSITION!

DON'T PANIC! Your creative ideas will be supported by professional musicians, members of Le Vivier (a presenter of contemporary music) who will play with us and for us! We'll be writing the music for them, as well as a graphic score, in the form of drawings and phrases collected by the neighborhood.

PLUS, you can even build or bring an instrument from home, whether it's a musical instrument, a bottle or a metal kitchen bowl - in short, anything that can produce sound. We'll be doing a lot of sound exploration to find the sounds we like for the composition. Whether we use our bodies, our voices, our instruments, electronic music or Le Vivier's musicians, we'll have fun writing and performing a unique work ourselves, L'ORCHESTRE D'UN APRÈS-MIDI!
Come along, just as you are!

  • SNACK BREAK! Our strolls through the neighborhood and the creative process, it's a real source of inspiration! There will be short breaks at the church in the community room, but bring your own snacks if you like! We're planning coffee, tea, fruit juice and a few sweet treats of our own.
  • A LITTLE CONCERT? If you like, bring your family and friends along to show off the fruits of our labor! Meet them at 5 p.m. for a very short, simple and festive concert!
  • INSTRUMENTS TO MAKE AT HOME. We recommend a visit to La Cour des Petits.com, where you'll find all kinds of easy-to-make instruments for the home. Remember to collect recyclable waste before throwing it away! We call it WILD LUTHERY. You can do anything with nothing!
