Quasar-chestra, c’est le saxophone dans tous ses états, dans tous ses éclats. En quatuor, à huit, à seize!

As part of the 2019 Saxophone Day, the Quasar saxophone quartet opens its 25th anniversary season with a concert in which it will host, for the first time in Montréal, the Stockholm Saxophone Quartet (SSQ). This year marks its 50th anniversary. The musicians will present premières of new works for eight saxophones that celebrate the richness and innovation of Quebec and Swedish composers. For the opening, eight Schulich School of Music students will team up with Quasar and the SSQ to perform Sax Organ by composer Dawn Hatfield.

Quasar-Chestra is the saxophone in all its states and in all its brilliance. As a quartet, an octet, or even with sixteen players, Quasar and its guests will fill the Gesù’s amphitheatre with sound, performing amazing and moving works and propelling the saxophone into the centre of today’s new music!
