Architek presents The Secret Music of Objects, the third installment in its Object Project series, which features works that set everyday objects to music.

The program includes works by Mark Applebaum, Alexandre Babel, John Cage, and Gyrid Nordal Kaldestad. Architek performs John Cage's Quartet, using household objects to strike, scrape, and tap in this captivating piece. Gyrid Nordal Kaldestad's Storytable asks the performers to create a soundscape using custom-made wooden boxes, amplified by a contact microphone carefully placed inside each box. In Alexandre Babel's The Brown Gardener, the four musicians have access to a collection of different materials with seemingly simple acoustic properties, which they must work delicately to extract their expressive potential. And finally, in Mark Applebaum's Straightjacket, Architek is joined by Sandra Joseph for this four-movement exploration of sound, image, and gesture.
