LA VIVIER MOBILE AT LES RENCONTRES INTERNATIONALES SUR LES MÉDIATIONS DE LA MUSIQUE
Le Vivier is pleased to have been invited to the first Rencontres internationales sur les médiations de la musique à Montréal (RIMM 2022) from October 11 to 14, 2022 bringing together professionals in the field.
These international meetings aim to offer a transnational overview of the current state of research on musical mediations and to share the different visions on these practices. In addition to its theoretical scope aiming to systematize observations, these meetings will multiply the opportunities for networking between practitioners and for linking practice and research environments.
On October 14, Véronique Girard, Le Vivier's mediation coordinator, presented the Vivier Mobile at the Rencontres internationales sur les médiations de la musique.
After discussing current projects and the possibilities offered by the device, participants were able to experience a mediation activity based on collective creation. Different instruments, sound bodies and amplified objects were used to create loops of varying lengths. Inspired by reduced listening and deep listening, the objective was to build a sound environment as a group by listening to the sounds produced by the objects, the sounds in the environment and the sounds transmitted by the sound recording and processing device in Max/MSP.
The purpose of this presentation was to present a mediation activity that allowed the collective experimentation of an approach, a music mediation device (co-creation workshop, experimentation workshop) and to objectify the results through a collective reflexive feedback.
This allowed the participants to become familiar with the Vivier Mobile and to develop avenues of exploration for the design of mediation workshops.
As part of this practical mediation workshop, Véronique Girard presented an adaptation of a work she created during the pandemic: Feu follet. It is an illuminated and magical installation that, for a moment, suspends time to allow us to contemplate the imperceptible.
Véronique adapted her work for the Vivier Mobile using the following elements:
- Microphones to capture the sounds produced by the objects and transform it in real time before re-injecting the sound into the installation
- Amplified instruments (bowl, wooden plate, etc.)
- Sound bodies (rocks of different sizes, pieces of wood, small percussion instruments, various objects, etc.)
