Colin Frank - an interactive installation
A Soundmap of Sherbrooke’s Machine Songs
An interactive audiovisual installation by Colin Frank
March 12-16 - Free and open to all
For 5 days, come and discover this interactive installation, allowing you to virtually explore the machines and sounds of the urban environment of the city of Sherbrooke.
Machines pervade urban environments, yet their sonic performances are often overlooked. From air conditioners to electrical boxes, mechanical sounds resonate all around us, forming urban soundscapes that are frequently ignored. By considering machine sounds as posthuman performances, this interactive installation allows visitors to manipulate a virtual environment based on 3D recordings of machines from the city of Sherbrooke. By compressing and digitizing these everyday spaces, the industrial urban environment becomes unexpectedly aesthetic, providing an innovative city experience where non-humans have their own voices, and beauty arises from the functionality of industrial objects.
