Musical works

When I started working on this piece, Germany had been in a lockdown for more than two months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and I had barely left the house since the pandemic started in March 2020. On the one hand, like the wintry surroundings I observed through my window, I had reached a state of profound calm. On the other hand, the world had been in upheaval for quite some time. Political polarization, social change, and global warming were causes for concern and demanded a vigilance and willingness to act that had previously been unknown to my generation. When the Sun is Low captures, like a musical diary entry, this simultaneity of feelings of calm and alertness, of balance and restlessness.
