“Composing is a leap, and a sloppy one, into the void. It is not the expansive abyss of immensity. It is the impudent abyss of the fall. Personally, I find it stimulating to write music thinking about sound materials and not about aesthetics or procedures that can be competed for by elites. Lo Azul a travel de un hueco was conceived rather as a consequence than a percept and it is inspired by a strong visual image of the different variants of the color blue. The juxtaposition of two wooden instruments, the cello and the marimba and the different timbers and colors that are created and produced in such a unique combination. The wood, an essential element in all aspects of life, reaches new sonic depth in this instrumental combination.
