Quasar presents the tenth edition of its Electro Series, highlighting the exploration of new technologies through four new works for saxophones and electroacoustic systems.

Quasar continues its exploration of the sonic world in the digital age with four new works for saxophones and audio-video electroacoustic systems. Four composers at the forefront of today’s contemporary music scene collaborate with Quasar’s musicians, exploring the many fascinating possibilities that emerge from the encounter between acoustic instruments and technology. Real-time sound processing, electronic textures, video, spatialization, and virtual identities—all serve as tools to delve into the universe of sound and offer audiences an immersive, sensitive, and striking experience. A must-see event on the new music scene.

A week-long residency lies at the heart of the artistic process: a space for research, experimentation, and exchange, culminating in a workshop open to the general public. Workshops throughout the week are open upon request to the CIRMMT and McGill communities.

Since 2013, the Electro Series has been co-produced with CIRMMT, enhancing conditions for research and creation. The series has received two Opus Awards, presented by the Conseil québécois de la musique.
