Andrea Young & Paramirabo - Kōrihirihi
The concert presents the voice as a site of transformation, exploring the space where song and sound diverge, and where text, electronics, and sculptural musical forms combine to create immersive and unpredictable listening experiences.
Andrea Young presents an evening of her compositions for voice and electronics with Ensemble Paramirabo on April 9, 2026, at Espace Wilder, Montreal. The programme includes two previously composed works revised for the ensemble, a newly commissioned work written especially for Paramirabo, and a work by Terri Hron.
Across the concert, electronics take on varied roles, ranging from responsive real-time processing to acousmatic sound. These approaches shape each work differently—at times extending the vocal gesture, at others reframing it within an immersive sonic environment. Together, the pieces trace a broad spectrum of electronic practice, examining how technology can function as accompanist, mirror, environment, or independent musical voice.
