Chants de passage — André Pappathomas — Grand chœur du Centre-Sud
Conceived and directed by André Pappathomas, Chants de passage is a collective creation in eight movements for choir, four soloists, piano, oboe, Irish bagpipe, tuba, percussion, and invented string instruments.
In any form of poetic act, there is a "passage" between inspiration and creation... Moments of revelation, as it were. Based on themes written by André Pappathomas, the conception of Chants de passage evolved throughout the rehearsals, creating, through these moments of revelation, unique and touching crossovers between the musical cultures of the soloists and guest instrumentalists.
The eight movements of the piece also aim to illustrate, in this first third of our winter, the passage from precious shadow to the essential expression of light.
