Concerti is six 'comprovised' collective compositions featuring, in turn, each of the ensemble's six virtuosic improvisers as soloists.
Ensemble Tesse is a group of six musicians from the Montreal music scene whose aim is to co-create new musical works. It is supported by the Pôle Relève du Vivier, which helps emerging new music artists to promote their artistic projects and works.
This concert presents six new works entirely created and composed by Ensemble Tesse. The six pieces have flexible instrumentation, ranging from duets to sextets and, one after the other, each features one of the group's six soloists-improvisers.
The title Concerti refers to the concertante genre and retains the idea of a soloist in contrast with the rest of the ensemble. However, each piece deconstructs at a different level the expectations traditionally associated with this musical genre.
Ensemble Tesse presents a concert version of this work, previously recorded at Studios Piccolo. The musicians will be spatialized around Espace Orange of the Wilder building, for greater proximity and an immersive and intimate entry into the world of each soloist.
