Six musicians are seated in the luminous darkness. In front of them is an electronic interface for percussion; behind, a large screen where video pulses and gyrates. Neither a movie nor a concert, K’anchay is an immersion in sound and visuals. Three Montréal creators – Jean Piché, Louis Dufort and Sylvain Pohu – use advanced digital techniques in the service of a hybrid art form in which the percussionists control the video through their improvisations. On the program are three works drawing on both abstract graphic art and realism, all borne aloft on original music that glistens with electronic energy. A bold and electrifying evening awaits!
