Flutist Marilène Provencher-Leduc holds a doctorate in performance from the Université de Montréal (2016) and is also a graduate of the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal (2010). She currently teaches flute at the Université de Sherbrooke.

Musically very versatile, she perfected her skills in contemporary music, then integrated klezmer music and improvisation into her instrumental practice. As a result, she was a member of the Eastern European music octet Oktopus between 2010-2020, and performed nationally and internationally (Festival international de Jazz de Montréal 2016 and 2017, Conseil des Arts de Montréal en tournée 2017-2018, British Columbia tour 2018, International Kulturbörse Freibourg 2020, etc.) Their second album HAPAX was nominated for a Juno Award in 2018. She also co-founds the duo Colias, Ensemble AKA, Le Collectif Myriade and Ensemble Tesse, dedicated to contemporary music, creations and improvisation. These ensembles regularly receive grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. 

Recipient of a scholarship from the Stockhausen-Stifung für Musik foundation in Germany (2011), she studied in Europe at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon with master Phillipe Bernold (2011). She also joins several orchestras and ensembles, including the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal as soloist and chamber musician in 2016, 2019 and 2021, the Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières as soloist in 2017, and the Ensemble Modern Academie in Austria in 2016, the Société de Concerts de Montréal in 2017, L'Ensemble ILÉA, Le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, l'Orchestre symphonique de l'Estuaire, l'Orchestre symphonique de Sherbrooke, l'Orchestre de l'Agora, l'Orchestre symphonique du Saguenay-lac-Saint-Jean, l'Orchestre Filmharmonique, and more.

His expertise, extensive knowledge of the instrument and the flute family (alto flute, piccolo, bass flute) and versatility have led him to collaborate with composers on a number of projects, including studio recordings and live performances for pop and jazz artists such as Michel Rivard, Vincent Vallières, Plants and Animals, Philippe Brach, Alex Nevsky (De la Beauté), Saratoga, Deep Rivers, Félix Dyotte, Ludovic Alarie, trio Hugo Mayrand, Apocalypse 8 -tribute to Thomas Chapin, Eyevin Nonet, etc.
