Omer Barash is a composer whose music often explores betweenness and identity, bridging personal interpretations of Hebrew traditions with contemporary soundscapes and technologies. His work has been performed by leading groups such as Ensemble Modern and Meitar Ensemble, and won international awards such as the impuls Composition Competition and the Salvatore Martirano Award. Barash studied composition at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, McGill University, the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and Ircam in Paris. He is currently pursuing a DMA in Composition at Columbia University. He has been mentored by Philippe Leroux, George Lewis, and Georg-Friedrich Haas, and Zosha Di Castri.
