James O’Callaghan Receives the First Museond Prize for Creativity in Mixed Music
Le Vivier is pleased to announce that composer James O’Callaghan has been selected as the recipient of the first Museond Prize for Creativity in Mixed Music.
As part of this award, James O’Callaghan will compose a new 14-minute work with electronics for Quasar. The premiere will take place during La Semaine du Neuf in March 2027.
The selection was made by a jury composed of Bekah Simms, Gordon Fitzell, Marie-Chantal Leclair, Jean-Marc Bouchard, An Laurence Higgins, Charles-Éric Fontaine, and Jeffrey Stonehouse. The jury wishes to acknowledge the outstanding quality of the applications received and to congratulate all composers who participated in the call.
Initiated through the support of patron John Fairbrother, founder of the Museond Fund, this annual prize supports the commissioning of new works for acoustic instruments and electronic media, while fostering innovation in mixed music and contemporary creation.
