Two Key International Festival Highlights in 2025: TIME:SPANS (New York) and Musica (Strasbourg)

INTERNATIONAL

This summer, Québec’s new music scene takes center stage at two major international events! Thanks to strong partnerships and a firm commitment to showcasing local works and artists abroad, Le Vivier will take part in two landmark festivals: TIME:SPANS in New York and Musica in Strasbourg.

Highly active on the international stage, Le Vivier facilitates the circulation of works, fosters co-productions, and nurtures an artistic dialogue that is essential to the vitality of contemporary music. Its goal of establishing co-production projects with international presenting partners reflects a desire to spotlight the creativity of Québec and Canadian artists and to stimulate new artistic encounters and the development of innovative repertoires.

Québec in the Spotlight at TIME:SPANS (New York)

Among the key partnerships in 2025, the TIME:SPANS festival in New York holds a special place. Known as one of the most important festivals for new music on the U.S. East Coast, it will this year present a Québec-Canada Focus, in collaboration with Le Vivier.

This major presence is made possible by the expertise of ensembles such as the Quatuor Bozzini and Sixtrum, promising high-caliber cross-collaborations.

Highlights of the program include:

  • August 14 – Sixtrum Percussion: Transformations (7:30 p.m.)
  • August 15 – Quatuor Bozzini (7:30 p.m.)
  • August 16 – Sixtrum Percussion: 6 Marimbas (7:30 p.m.)
  • August 23 – No Hay Banda: Il Teatro Rosso (7:30 p.m.)
A Collaboration with Quatuor Bozzini

As part of TIME:SPANS, Le Vivier joins forces with Soundstreams (Toronto), the Earle Brown Music Foundation Charitable Trust, the Darmstadt Festival (Germany), and Quatuor Bozzini (Québec) for a large-scale international co-production. Three original works for string quartet—commissioned from Cassandra Miller (London, UK), Taylor Brook (Victoria, CA), and Zosha Di Castri (New York)—will be premiered.

Quatuor Bozzini is a singular voice in support of new, experimental, and classical music. A driving force in Montréal’s music scene and beyond, the quartet embraces risk, experimentation, and collaboration, constantly pushing beyond the conventional. With their rigorous artistic standards, they have helped to establish a diverse and timeless repertoire.
