Le Vivier unveils a new season of musical discoveries

Le Vivier unveils its 16e season

Get ready to be moved by the sounds of new music. Le Vivier's 2024-2025 season promises unheard sounds, passionate artists, music that speaks to our time, and unexpected musical encounters.

Le Vivier, Montreal's hub for new music, presents its 16th season, a veritable sonic kaleidoscope celebrating artistic audacity and the diversity of musical aesthetics. With an eclectic and festive program ranging from contemporary chamber music to unbridled sound experimentation, each concert is an invitation to an extraordinary sensory journey.

A season rich in emotions and discoveries

Le Vivier highlights committed artists and works that resonate with our time and leave no one indifferent. The multifaceted artist Nour Symon, the season's muse, draws inspiration from tarab, a form of sonic meditation emblematic of Egyptian music, in an intimate composition that evokes all emotions. The GIFT project, initiated by musician Louise Campbell, celebrates diversity.

Unprecedented musical encounters

Le Vivier invites you to musical encounters that defy genre boundaries. Unprecedented collaborations with renowned international ensembles such as the Stenhammar Quartet and the Stockholm Saxophone Quartet will transport you to unexplored sonic universes. The much-anticipated meeting between French guitarist Marc Ducret and the Montreal collective L’animal inquiet, presented as part of Québec Musiques Parallèles, promises to spark, as does ChamberDestroy, the pan-Canadian collaborative project of the ensembles Paramirabo and Thin Edge New Music Collective. Another highlight of the season will be Vox Colossus by the Growlers Choir, an epic concert bringing together the mystery of sacred music, the inventiveness of contemporary music, and the energy of metal music.

Sound experiments

Le Vivier's program continues to explore new sonic territories with proposals that push the boundaries of traditional music. Notably, the original compositions of Marie-Pierre Brasset who experiments with the creative possibilities of the analog synthesizer, the performance of Architek Percussion interpreting the works of Andrea Young and Julius Eastman, and the concert for loudspeaker orchestra and electroacoustic performance by Roxanne Turcotte. Exceptional instruments will be featured, such as the large Casavant organ of the Sanctuaire-du-Saint-Sacrement with Olivier St-Pierre and Natacha Demers, or the giant instruments of "Ce qui reste quand la peau se détache du corps", a hybrid and sensory work by Sara Létourneau and Chantale Boulianne that plays with the acoustic properties of matter and their scenographic potential.

A new space anchored in the community

Newly installed in the peaceful setting of Sainte-Hilda church, Le Vivier is more than ever a space for creation and sharing. In this welcoming and community-oriented place, the team has developed a partnership with Vox Populi to host artists and the public, as well as activities for families in the neighborhood. With a new solidarity-based pricing and a season pass, Le Vivier is committed to making new music accessible to all audiences.

Listening to the unexpected

For over 15 years, Le Vivier has been dedicated to new music. A non-profit organization with over 70 members, Le Vivier is dedicated to the dissemination of creative music and the support of emerging artists, through its programming, its Emerging Artists Pole, its music mediation workshops, and its youth activities.
