Call for scores: World New Music Days 2026

world new music days 2026

Le Vivier is proud to launch its first Call for Scores for the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) World New Music Days (WNMD) 2026, taking place in Bucharest, Romania from May 23 to May 31, 2026.

As a Full Associate Member of the ISCM, Le Vivier will select six works across at least four categories to submit to the ISCM jury. At least one of these works is guaranteed to be performed at the 2026 edition of the festival.

Submission Guidelines

  • Each composer may submit one work per category in up to 3 categories.
  • There is no application fee.
  • Works may be published or unpublished, and may have been performed, premiered, or unperformed.
  • Preference will be given to pieces up to 10 minutes in duration and composed within the last 10 years, with highest priority given to those composed in the last 5 years.

By submitting a work, composers agree that if selected, they authorize the ISCM and WNMD 2026 organizers to perform, record, broadcast, and stream the piece without additional financial liability.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, composers must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. They must also either be members of Le Vivier or submit a piece that meets one of the following conditions:

  • It was presented in Le Vivier’s programming;
  • It was presented by an organization, ensemble, or performer that was a Le Vivier member in good standing at the time of the performance*;
  • It was commissioned by a Le Vivier member ensemble;
  • It is scheduled to be performed in Le Vivier’s 2025–2026 season, even if not yet premiered.

If you are a Canadian composer and your piece does not meet the above criteria, you may still submit your work for consideration through the Canadian Section or apply individually to the ISCM World New Music Days.

* See the current list of members here: https://levivier.ca/en/artists/members. If you are unsure whether the performer, ensemble or organization that presented your piece was a member at the time of the performance, or if you are unsure about your piece’s eligibility for any other reason, please contact us at artistique [at] levivier [dot] ca.

Selection Process

The selection will be made by a jury composed of Le Vivier’s artistic team and members of Le Vivier’s artistic coordination committee

The jury will choose six works that best represent the diverse and dynamic output of composers and sound artists in Le Vivier’s community, across a wide range of aesthetics, media, identities, and artistic contexts. The ISCM and Le Vivier are committed to equity and diversity in their programming, with attention to nationality, ethnicity, gender, and age of composers and performers.

Composers under 35 whose works are selected for performance may also be eligible for the ISCM Young Composer Award.

Submit your work before August 18!
