Musical works

Shape Games is a series of miniatures, each based on a small sketch of Leo Purich design. Acting like little maps of pitch range, dynamics, texture, timbral qualities, general contour, and instrumental relationships, the sketches guide the music through a series of whimsical and playful episodes. The resulting metaphorical interactions give rise to various kinds of sonic funnels, mirrors, threads, spirals, zigzags, and more. Eventually, the shapes may even yearn to escape the very frames in which they live…
