Pierre-Olivier Roy is a Québécois composer. He has completed his specialized composition training with Éric Morin in Laval University. He also followed workshops such as the Composer’s Kitchen of the Quatuor Bozzini, computer assisted composition with the IRCAM, Les rencontre de musique nouvelle of Domaine Forget, the young composers programme of the National Arts Center of Canada and the workshop of the Acanthes Centre. He worked, among others, in contact with Jean Lesage, Denys Bouliane, François Paris and Gary Kulesha and Hanspeter Kyburz. His work has been performed by several ensembles: l’Orchestre de la francophonie canadienne, the Quatuor Bozzini, Le Nouvel ensemble moderne and the Consort contemporain de Québec. Last year, his work Cinq pamphlets pour ailleurs won a 3rd prize in the SOCAN Foundation. He regularly writes music for short films, radio and television.
