William Boivin is a freelance double bassist based in Montreal and a graduate of McGill University where he obtained a master's degree in performance in spring 2021. In spring 2023, he obtained a D.E.S.S in orchestral repertoire at the University of Montreal under the supervision of Yannick Chênevert (I Musici, NEM). His other mentors were: Annie Vanasse (OSSLSJ), Pierre Pépin (OSM), Ali Yazdanfar (OSM), Jeremy McCoy (Metropolitan Opera) and Eric Chappell (OSM). In 2023, he participated in the chamber orchestra course at the Académie du Domaine Forget with Les Violons du Roy. To date, he has played with I Musici, the Drummondville Symphony Orchestra, Candlelight, the Orchester de l'Agora, the Ensemble Volte, Forestare as well as the Ensemble Obiora. Since winter 2023, he has been a classical double bass teacher at CÉGEP de Lanaudière in Joliette. Alongside his civilian career, William is a reservist musician in the Band of 438 ETAH of the Royal Canadian Air Force in Saint-Hubert.
