Vivianne Delorme is an opera director, performer, and librettist originally from Chelsea, Quebec. Her most recent project, Sortilegio, a pastiche opera created with Elizabeth Raum and Giancarlo Scalia, has captivated audiences with its adventurous story and clever blend of contemporary music and traditional repertoire.
Delorme is currently working on a new opera with composer Daniel Black, a futuristic comedy titled Kassandre. As an emerging director, she was invited to the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto (Hansel und Gretel, 2020) and to the Metropolitan Opera in New York (La Fille du Régiment, 2019) for intensive observation internships.
A year earlier, she earned her Master’s degree in stage direction at the Verona Opera Academy under the tutelage of Lorenzo Mariani. Dedicated to the development of opera in Quebec, Delorme regularly works as a production director or assistant director on new creations, including the oratorio Basileus (Pascal Berardi/Sébastien Johnson), winner of the Prix Opus for Musical Event of the Year, and the chamber opera Mars: Signs of Life (Tim Brady/Alexis Diamond).
