Ruben Martinez Orio
Rubén Orio (Spain, 1988) is a musician based in Brussels. His work spans contemporary, experimental, and improvised music formats. He is a member of the ICTUS ensemble, co-founder of the guitar–percussion duo The Third Guy with Primož Sukič, and co-founder of the percussion group FRAMES percussion in Barcelona.
He has collaborated on multidisciplinary projects with artists such as choreographers Némo Flouret, Meg Stuart, Ula Sickle, Vera Tussing, Jeanne Colin, and Joan Català, as well as photographer Lore Stessel, filmmaker Mirna Everhard, and sound artists Stijn Demeulenaere, Stephan Quix, and Hans Roels.
He has performed at venues and festivals including the Venice Biennale, MaerzMusik Berlin, the Festival d’Automne, the Paris Opera, the MEAUKUSMA Festival, the SPOR Festival in Aarhus, Ostrava Days, and the MIXTUR Festival.
He currently teaches percussion at the Royal Conservatory of Liège as an assistant professor and has led several rhythm workshops at the P.A.R.T.S. dance school.
