Nalo Soyini Bruce is an interdisciplinary artist and designer based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal, with Afro-Caribbean heritage rooted in Barbados and Jamaica. Working across theatre, dance, opera, and film, her work lives at the intersection of story, setting, and sensory experience, designing environments and garments that hold both individual narratives and collective memory. 
Over the past decade, she has worked across Canada as a set, costume, props, and production designer, known for layered compositions, bold colours, and varied textures. Her work has been recognized with a Jessie Richardson Award nomination and a META Award for Outstanding Costume Design. 
Her process is collaborative and research-driven, attentive to the body in motion and the worlds it inhabits, and guided by reverence for ancestry and transformation. Through every project, she embraces cultural hybridity, shaping spaces where stories can root, breathe, and transform. 
Her practice increasingly engages sustainability, drawing from an evolving archive of fabrics and repurposed materials to create designs that are both regenerative and expansive.
