Marie-Noëlle Choquette
An expressive, creative, and sensitive flutist, equally at ease in classical, contemporary, world, popular, or improvised music. She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in several venues, series, and festivals in Canada, the United States, and Europe. Her passion for creation has led her to conceive, direct, and participate in various multidisciplinary shows featuring contemporary music, dance, video, and theater. She is also actively working on the production of a new solo music-stage production project: MANO. It is with her main project, the Duo Beija-Flor, that she integrates her fascination for world cultures into her art. The duo has already produced two albums: ENVOL-2011 (around the world) and MUZICA-2013 (Eastern Europe) and is currently working on a third album that will cover a repertoire from the Latin countries of the Atlantic coasts. In 2007, Ms. Choquette received a Master's degree in contemporary music from Concordia University and in 2004, a Bachelor's degree in classical performance from the Université de Montréal. In 2009, she was awarded a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to further her studies in contemporary music during an intensive training course at the University of Graz (Austria). In addition to her performing career, Marie-Noëlle is also a dedicated pedagogue invited as a specialist in various schools in Montreal.
