A native of Ottawa, Luka Marcoux began playing the piano at the age of 8 and the oboe at 14, giving concerts throughout his childhood and adolescence. Music was with him from a very early age, and he still remembers a CD of Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto that made a particular impression on him.
He has been living in Montreal since 2017. He will complete his master's degree at the Université de Montréal in May 2020. Previously, he attended McGill for his bachelor's degree, the Glenn Gould School in Toronto for an artist diploma, and the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal for an advanced certificate.
He performs in a number of ensembles around Montreal, including the NEM and several others. He is an oboist with Duo Caprice, an oboe and cello duo that promotes Canadian composers and music for oboe and cello.
He hopes one day to share his music and his love of music with audiences around the world.
