Joey Machin
Joey Machin is an undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor of music in violin performance at McGill University. He grew up in Toronto, Ontario and attended high school in the Claude Watson Arts program at Earl Haig Secondary. Notably, Joey has played as a section violinist and violist in the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Earl Haig Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestra Toronto; in the 2021-2022 season, he served as concertmaster to both the TSYO and the Earl Haig Symphony Orchestra. As a composer, Joey enjoys writing solo and chamber music. In addition to having had his own pieces recorded by the Bedford Trio and the Continuum Ensemble, he has recorded several student compositions with his quartet. In conducting, Joey worked with the Claude Watson Symphonic Strings in the fall of 2021 and looks forward to pursuing more conducting opportunities in the future.
