Darko Dimitrijevic
Darko Dimitrijevic (1992) finished his primary and secondary education at the High School of Music “dr Miloje Milojevic”, in Kragujevac, Serbia, in the class of Mag. Miljan Bjeletic. Upon graduating with honors at the age of 15, he pursued further education at the Faculty of Philology and Arts, University of Kragujevac, where he graduated with honors (summa cum laude) in both his Bachelor and Master of Music studies, in the classes of Dr Zoran Rakic and prof. Radomir Tomic. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Contemporary Music Performance at l'Université de Montréal, under co-mentorship of Jean-Michaël Lavoie and Pierre Michaud.
Actively involved in many workshops, masterclasses and exchange programs all over Europe, he's worked with many notable performers such as Geir Draugsvoll (Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen, Denmark), Mie Miki (Folkwang Universitat der Kunste, Essen, Germany), Iñaki Alberdi (Musikene High School of Music at San Sebastian, Spain), Raimondas Sviackevičius (University of Vilnius, Lithuania), Janne Rättyä (Kunst Universitat Graz, Austria) and many others.
From 2015 onwards, he is working as the program manager with the NGO Eufonija in Novi Sad, Serbia, a cultural organization managing a series of concerts and festivals, helping young artists in becoming active participants in the cultural life. A full-time professor at the High School of Music in Kragujevac, teaching Accordion, Theory of interpretation and Chamber Music Ensembles - during 7 years of teaching, he's worked with over 80 successful students - many of them laureates of international competitions and concourses.
His performance interests cover many areas of contemporary and classical music: Solo pieces for the accordion, chamber music and orchestral performances, electro-acoustic and mixed music with the acoustic, microtonal and electronic accordion. Through his collaboration with young composers, he has premiered over 40 pieces of music written for the accordion in many settings - solo pieces, chamber and mixed music, two concertos for the accordion and orchestra etc.
