Ben Lunn is a Mackem composer who studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under Peter Reynolds, and at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Drama with Marius Baranauskas. Since completing his MA, Lunn has moved to Airdrie, where he currently resides, and works as a conductor, musicologist, teacher and composer. As a composer, Ben Lunn's music reflects the material world around him, relating to his North East heritage, the impact of disability on the world around him or his working class upbringing. In September 2021 Ben Lunn began his PhD at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he is exploring the impact of political ideology on composition and reflecting on his own work. Winner of two Scottish Music Awards 2020 for his work with the Hebrides Ensemble and Drake Music Scotland. Mr Lunn is an Associate Artist of Drake Music and Drake Music Scotland, and Trainee Artistic Director of the Hebrides Ensemble.
