Denis Dion is a freelance composer and describes himself as passionate about music and sounds.
His work was rewarded by the Quebec Music Council during the Prix-Opus ceremony by receiving the Opus Création of the year 2000-01.The following year, he was a composer in residence at the Trois-Rivières Symphonic Orchestra for the 2002-2004 seasons.
He taught at the Faculty of Music at Laval University as well as at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec and was a commentator for the Music Service of Radio-Canada.
At the 2005 Prix-Opus gala he received the Opus Création of the year and the Opus Composer of the year.
In 2011, he won the third prize at the Prix des collégiens en musique contemporaine, the First prize at the CMC-Quebec Quebec Music Competition as well as the CALQ 2012 Prize for artistic creation in the region.
In 2008, the Orchestre symphonique de Québec premiered the multimedia tale «Le clan des oiseaux» commissioned by the Société des fête du 400e anniversaire de la ville de Québec.
Denis Dion is a member of the Canadian Music Center and his music is published by Éditions Dobermann-Yppan, Éditions du CMC as well as Éditions Canadian National Conservatory of Music, Musical Discoveries "Northern Lights"
