Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (SMCQ)
Founded by a group of prominent Montréal musicians and composers, the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (SMCQ) has assumed a mandate to promote contemporary music from both this country and abroad. Managed by composers for composers, the SMCQ has become one of the most dynamic non-governmental institution for promoting new music in North America. Established for now 49 years and dean of new music societies, the SMCQ has served as catalyst for major artistic events, organizing recurring projects in partnership with national and international cultural scenes.
