On Monday 19 June, the CARTEL network will be meeting in London to follow up the discussions initiated by international new music delegations during La Semaine du Neuf, organised by Le Vivier, last March.

At the invitation of Le Vivier and with the support of the Délégation du Québec à Londres and its representative Andrew Bailey, the CARTEL executive committee met on Monday 19 June at the offices of the Délégation générale du Québec à Londres to continue discussions on current issues of inclusion, eco-responsibility, the circulation of works and artists, and future international collaborations.

CARTEL is an international network for the exchange and circulation of new music, led by Le Vivier. Its aim is to share ideas and experiences, develop joint initiatives and programming projects, stimulate networks for the circulation of works and artists, and strengthen links between new music communities. In the current context, we are all the more convinced of the vital importance of this cooperation.

The pre-summer meeting was attended by

  • Jeffrey Stonehouse, Artistic Director, Le Vivier (Montreal, Canada)
  • Graham McKenzie, Artistic Director, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (Huddersfield, Great Britain)
  • David Pay, Artistic Director, Music on Main/ Modulus Festival (Vancouver, Canada)
  • Eve O'Donnell, Deputy Director, National Sawdust (Brooklyn, NY, USA)
  • Heloïsa Amaral, Artistic Director, Ultima festival (Oslo, Norway)

The Executive Committee will be hosted by Andrew Bailey, Cultural Attaché at the Délégation générale du Québec in London, and accompanied by Charlotte Colin, International Projects Officer at Le Vivier, who is coordinating all the network's activities in support of Jeffrey Stonehouse (CARTEL meetings).

Professional meetings will also be organised in Paris, in conjunction with ManiFeste, the multidisciplinary festival and academy of Ircam (Institut de recherche et coordination acoustique/musique), from 19 June to 1 July, as well as in other French cities and in Barcelona.

Other events throughout the year are already planned for the CARTEL network, including the Semaine du Neuf in March 2024.
