ALEXANDER VERT WORKSHOP - Interarts cooperation in new music

Alexandre Vert workshop

Alexander Vert, composer and director of Flashback (France), proposes a workshop and round table on inter-arts cooperation in the field of creative music.

Since 2015, Flashback has become a specialist in the production of multidisciplinary works whose starting point is music. Surrounding itself with top-level performers and visual artists, and inviting numerous composers to collaborate with an extended artistic team, Alexander Vert offers a master class (meeting and exchange) around working methods linked to the entire chain (project, writing, realization, production...). From the first idea to its realization on stage in public.

Discussions include :

  • the use of new technologies on stage
  • the different working times required by different disciplines
  • inter-arts cooperation on stage
  • the performer in the creative process

There may also be time for discussion of participants' projects.

Participants:

  • Diego Tosi - Violin
  • Alexander Vert - Composer and artistic director
  • Thomas Pénanguer - Visual artist
  • Olivier Brett - Stage manager / technician

On the same day at 7:30pm, the Flashback ensemble presents Diego Tosi, a multimedia show for violinist and electronics.

ALEXANDER VERT

Alexander Vert leads a multi-faceted career as a composer. He writes instrumental, mixed and electroacoustic pieces. Since 2012, in collaboration with other artists, he has created multidisciplinary works whose starting point is music. These works are most often the fruit of research and creation projects, carried out in partnership with prestigious institutions (IRCAM, Geneva HEM...), where new technologies are used to create gateways to other art forms.

Committed to renewing the form of the concert in the field of contemporary music, he integrates scenography with the contribution of the visual arts on stage. His works address themes that are dear to him, such as the relationship between man and death, dreams and travel. These immersive works call on strong symbolism in both sound and vision, offering the listener points of reference and anchorage that lead to an elsewhere.

In collaboration with visual artists (Thomas Penanguer, Thomas Köppel), Alexander Vert designs a broadcasting and visual projection device for each creation, to offer the audience an angle of perception adapted to each work. He carries out research-creation residencies with his many partners, and regularly collaborates with top-level performers.

His latest creations: “Multibrain”, “Murmures”, “Double Jeu”, “Bird in a Cage”, “Birds, Winds & Dreams”, “Exil”, “Souffle”, “Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out”, “Twin Peaks”, “Crossing Points”, “Sculpt”, etc.
