Le bruit des soupirs (2014 - 2018)
Program notes
Video: François Doyon
Narrator: Audrey Southière
What's behind that languid sigh that rings in my ears? Small reports in the form of a soundscape that talk under a streetlight. What connects earth and sky is the extent of our anchoring that gently lifts us to our history, to our well-filled travel diaries, to the branches of our multifaceted lives and our secret gardens. Our inner silences dictate our behaviour, our thinking, sometimes loudly. Human struggles, debates, failures, slips evolve through ideas, passions, desires and beauties of the world. Exotic bird songs, nature sounds and words in Creole from the Seychelles Islands, plunge us into a fairytale world despite a dark shadow: a luxury hotel discharges toxic waste into a stream near the houses.
Le bruit des soupirs is a series of miniatures originally conceived for an installation. Each segment, however short, reveals an ideology, a struggle, with the occasional touch of humour in a variety of timbre colors.
