Voces boreales
Formed in 2006 by conductor Michael Zaugg, Voces boreales is an elite vocal ensemble, performing to great acclaim in Montreal and the surrounding area. The group’s concerts feature a cappella music from Scandinavia, the Baltics and North America. Works by composers such as Mäntyjärvi, Daniel-Lesur, Rautavaara, Martin, and Pärt are ideal to showcase the choir’s lush and full sound. The members of Voces boreales are dedicated to excellence in rehearsing and performing. With a repertoire consisting of 8- to 16-part music, they mostly perform as soloists. Voces boreales has already taken part in a number of prestigious concert series, such as the National Arts Centre eXpressions series, Musique Chez Nous at Bishop's University, the Mondial choral de Laval, and the Montreal Bach Festival. It has also been featured on CBC Radio 2. The ensemble is produced by the Montreal Choral Institute and often appears in its various educational events, such as the Montreal Choral Masterclass.
