Samuel is involved with many aspects of musical practice, including interpretation and performance, choir singing, musicology, teaching, programming and event production. As a freelance tubist, he has performed with some of the major musical ensembles in the greater Montréal area, including the Montréal Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre Métropolitain.

His musical training has been marked by numerous prizes and scholarships including an admission scholarship from HEC Montréal, a Desjardins Foundation scholarship, a grant to professional musicians from Canada Council for the Arts, the Paul-Merkelo prize and scholarship from the Montréal Symphony Orchestra-Standard life competition, and full-scholarships from Mannes College The New School for Music in New York and from Université de Montréal.

Samuel earned a Professional Studies Diploma in performance from Mannes College in 2010, a baccalaureate degree in performance from Université de Montréal in 2008, a double-DEC in social sciences and music from Collège Marie-Victorin in 2005, and studied at the maîtrise des Petit-Chanteurs du Mont-Royal. His mentors included Alan Baer, principal tubist of the New York Philharmonic, as well as Yan Sallafranque and Nicolas Martin.

In 2011 Samuel completed doctoral level courses in musicology at Université de Montréal under the tutelage of François de Médicis as well as a gratuale level diploma in cultural organisations management at HEC Montréal in 2013.

Samuel teaches in high school students at Joseph-François-Perrault, Collège Regina-Assumpta and in private. He is a founding member, artistic and general director of Magnitude6 — Brass quintet and drum since 2007.
