Productions SuperMusique (PSM)

Founded in 1979, Productions SuperMusique is headed by Joane Hétu and Danielle Palardy Roger. This organization, a leader in its field, is solely devoted to “musique actuelle,” improvisation, and sonic experiments. Its operations focus on creating, producing, and programming concerts in Montréal, and on setting up international tours for ensembles such as Les Poules, Nous perçons les oreilles, and Ensemble SuperMusique. The company also presents music creation workshops for young audiences.

Musique actuelle: unstructured rock, fragmented jazz, splintered songs, reinvented traditions, noise environments, improvisation, the blending of acoustic and electroacoustic instruments, new ensemble music. Music that has been renewed by the alliance of different musical trends, by a new balance of power between the composer and the performer, as well as by an additional involvement by the composers, that being as the performers of their own music.

The influence and vitality of musique actuelle is at the heart of Productions SuperMusique’s concerns.
