Mario Gauthier
Mario Gauthier is an independent scholar and audio artist. He was a producer for the cultural radio of the CBC’s French Network from 1986 to 2003. He received the Opus Award / Media Event of the Year from the Conseil québécois de la musique in 2000 for his radio program L’espace du son. Subsequently, he was project manager for the Phonothèque québécoise, the Canadian Electroacoustic Community (CEC), the Société d’histoire de la Rivière-du-Nord, etc. As an improviser, he plays with various artists and in the electroacoustic improvisation quartet Theresa Transistor (with Christian Bouchard, Christian Calon, and Monique Jean). He also composes works for the radio. Interested in our relationship with fixed sounds, he is writing a book to be titled Lointains Paysages on phonography and its relationship with our perception. He is currently completing a radio play: Les errances de la voix.
