Yannick Plamondon is from the Quebec region. A self-taught musician originally from alternative rock, he studied composition at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec and Montreal with Armando Santiago, from whom he won a prize with great distinction. He then perfected himself in Canada and abroad, among others, with Jonathan Harvey, Luca Francesconi, Tristan Murail, and Julian Anderson.

Since 1995, his works have been awarded, played, recorded and broadcast all over the world. He leads a career as a pedagogue (Professor of composition and chamber music associated with the Quebec Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Arts in Quebec City), curator, sound designer and communicator. He has collaborated with artists from the pop scene, classical and contemporary, as well as the visual arts community.
