Rocío CANO VALIÑO was born in Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina
Composer and Interior Designer. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in contemporary composition at the Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse de Lyon [CNSMDL] with François ROUX, Martin MATALON and Luca ANTIGNANI. Rocío has studied electroacoustic composition with Stéphane BORREL at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional [CRR] de Lyon, France, where she obtained the Diplôme d'Études Musicales [DEM] with mention « Très bien à l'unanimité avec félicitations du jury ». In Argentina, she studied composition with Demian RUDEL REY.
Rocío's musical production is dedicated to instrumental, mixed and electroacoustic pieces.
She has received various commissions from : Creation Grant by the Fondo Nacional de las Artes [ARG] ; commission by France Musique « Création Mondiale" Anne Montaron, in residence at GRM’s studio, public première Festival Présences 2020 at the Maison de la Radio [FR] ; commission and residence at Studio Césaré CNCM [FR] ; Ibermúsicas [Latin America] ; Bahía[in]sonora Festival [ARG] ; Aide à l’écriture du Ministère de la Culture [FR] ; Aide à l’écriture musicale de l’OARA [FR] …
Rocío collaborated as a set designer and 3D designer in the opera « QU'EST-CE QUE L'AMOUR ? » by composer Demian Rudel Rey which was premiered at the Thèâtre de la Renaissance in 2021 [Lyon, France]. During 2021-22, she will participate in the Franco-Canadian project CONFLUENCE with the ensembles: Proxima Centauri, HANATSU miroir and the Ensemble Paramirabo. She also works with the Duo PARCOURS, l’Ensemble Ars Nova, le JJAF, among others...
Her works have been awarded at: Destellos Foundation [ARG], TRINAC UNESCO [ARG], the Banc d'Essai du GRM [FR], Exhibitronic [FR], Rampazzi [IT], a special mention at Métamorphoses [BE], TRIMARG [ARG] and the Luigi Russolo [FR-ES]. Her compositions have been selected and performed in various festivals around the world, such as Festival Mixtur, CEMI Circles, Klingt gut, Festival MA/IN, FILE, Phas.e, SIME, Festival Zéppelin...
In 2017, the label Resterecords released its first monographic album « Tâches ». Rocío's music is published by Babel Scores, Score Follower, Musiques & Recherches, Monochrome Vision, Taukay Edizioni Musicali and Phas.e. La Lettre du Musicien an article « Portrait double vie » written by Antoine Pecqueur in the « Architecture » edition of 2020.
