Québec Musiques Parallèles (QMP) is a pan-Quebec initiative that brings together artists, producers, venues and presenters working on the fringes of the industry to connect the regions and major centres. Through a unique and promising program based on experimentation and collaboration, the proposals put together by the Quatuor Bozzini and Tour de Bras will allow the discovery of new musical and sound practices and the promotion of local creative music in all regions of Quebec.
From October 6 to 18, 2021, 8 ensembles and artists (74 in total) will travel the roads of Quebec to present their new musical and sound practices as part of Québec Musiques Parallèles (QMP). This pan-Quebec initiative by Tour de Bras (Rimouski) and Quatuor Bozzini (Montreal) brings together artists, producers and presenters working on parallel routes, while linking the regions to the major centres. The line-up of artists includes Quatuor Bozzini, GGRIL, Norman Adams and Brandon Auger (Nova Scotia), Rémy Bélanger from Beauport, the Joker Choir (Productions SuperMusique), DooDooDoo, EMIQ, eRikm, Camille Émaille, Jean-François Laporte (Totem Contemporain), Loïc Guénin, MMV2005, NOORG (France), Alexandre St-Onge and Belinda Campbell, Trio d'choses and Ptr Vrba (Czech Republic). Czech Republic). The concerts will take place from Matane to Joliette, via Albertville, Rimouski, Mont-Louis and Rivière-du-Loup,
Les Bergeronnes, Isle Verte, Jonquière, Quebec and Montreal.
QMP wants to give voice to new music and restore the image of contemporary music by presenting it in its diversity and dynamism. At the heart of this ambitious project is the desire to stimulate the public's curiosity about today's musical creation, but also to open up a reflection on the ecology of music distribution and on the ethics of cultural consumption. A new and promising program based on experimentation and musical collaboration will allow several artists to play outside the major centres and to bring today's music to the four corners of Quebec. If in February, we don't drink alcohol and in November, we grow moustaches, then in October, we want to unleash our ears and discover new Canadian music!
QMP is a co-production of Quatuor Bozzini, Tour de Bras, Avatar and E27 musiques nouvelles in partnership with Le Vivier, Recto-Verso, Coop Paradis and Pantoum.
