Hubert Tanguay-Labrosse was born in Montréal, September 4th, 1989. Since september 2004, he has been studying clarinet at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, in the class of Jean-François Normand. In september 2007, he started two undergraduate programs, one in performance and one in composition, in the class of Serge Provost. Among numerous concerts, he played as a soloist with the Orchestre du Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and with the Orchestre Joseph-François-Perrault. With the later, as first clarinet as well as solo clarinettist in concertos, he went on tour in France in the summer of 2006. He is a prizewinner of several competitions, both at local and national levels. For some years, he is taking a keen interest in musical creation. Last year, he was the creator of two works for solo clarinet, and participated in the creation of several works for ensemble. Next year, with Conservatoire’s string orchestra, he will perform his own clarinet concerto.
