Georges Forget began training in 1998 with Christian Éloy at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux (France), where he graduated with a unanimous First Prize in Electroacoustic Composition. He moved to Québec in 2001 to complete a master’s degree at Université de Montréal with Robert Normandeau. He completed his academic cursus with a PhD in composition under Isabelle Panneton and Jean Piché.

His works have been programmed by major national and international events. Forget has won, been nominated for or received honorable mentions at several composers’ competitions, including First Prize ex-æquo at the 25th Concorso internazionale di musica elettroacustica e rumore Luigi Russolo-Rossana Maggia (Annecy, France, 2011).

Georges Forget mostly composes electroacoustic music, but he also works for instruments and the screen. Beside composing, he teaches electroacoustic composition, studio technical skills, and creative audio recording — a unique take on Schaefferian theories adapted to sound design — at the Université de Montréal’s Music Faculty.

He has received grants from the Conseil des arts de Montréal (CAM), Canada Council for the Arts (CCA), Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ), and Fonds de recherche sur la société et la culture (FQRSC).
