Anna Atkinson

American soprano Anna Atkinson is completing her Master of Music in Opera and Voice at McGill University, studying under Dominique Labelle. Originally from Carmel, Indiana, she received a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Music Education from Indiana University, where she worked with Timothy Noble. In the 2020-2021 Opera McGill season she can be seen as Ms. Jessel in Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw and Louisa in The Limit of the Sun, a new opera by Luna Pearl Woolf and Andrea Stolowitz being workshopped by Opera McGill. Atkinson was recently seen in Opera McGill’s production of Street Scene by Kurt Weill where she was First NurseMaid and also covered the role of Rose Murrant. In 2019 with Chicago Summer Opera, Atkinson covered Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare. She has sung in the ensemble of Lucia di Lammermoor and Dialogues des Carmélites with IU Opera and Ballet Theater and in La Clemenza di Tito with Opera McGill.

In addition to performing, Atkinson is the Social Media Manager for Opera McGill and Co-Media Coordinator for The Phoenix Leadership Project. She is a co-founder of the podcast Are We All Met?, where she and co-host Sean Haid speak to emerging and in-progress artists in order to amplify their voices and their needs. Atkinson is committed to passionately searching for a way to incorporate her love of education and community outreach into her art.  In her free time she enjoys eating chocolate peanut butter ice cream, long distance running, and getting lost on the beautiful side streets in Le Plateau.
